Below are a selection of case studies, intended to provide information on the
range of treatments we offer and how effective they can be.

Case Study One
Mr. C came for shiatsu following unsuccessful physiotherapy on his lower back and
sciatica. He was in a great deal of pain and found walking difficult. His GP had
referred him to an Orthopaedic Consultant with a view to having an MRI scan but
his appointment was three months away and he couldn't wait that long for treatment.
Mr. C received six shiatsu sessions in total, initially weekly and then increasing
the gap between appointments. He found that shiatsu offered him a great deal of pain
relief and slowly his symptoms improved. His back, though still vulnerable, causes
him few problems and he now comes for shiatsu every 6 to 8 weeks to prevent any
recurrence and for general stress relief.

Case Study Two
A lady in her early thirties came to visit after recently having a case removed for
a fractured ankle. After six weeks in plaster she was having difficulty walking due
to excess fluid and pain causing immobility. With two boys under the age of four, she
was desperate to get "back on her feet again". After gently massaging the ankle using
a 3% dilution of Juniper (to eliminate excess fluid), Rosemary (to boost circulation)
and Roman chamomile (as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic), the client noticed a
marked improvement in mobility and relief from pain. Following a series of weekly
massage sessions she was soon back in her normal routine - much to her childrens'
delight.

Case Study Three
A female of 58 years had developed a parasitic infection after spending a lot of time
abroad. She came to the Centre in early August 2000 and received a treatment of herbs,
natural healing and some dietary changes. She took a herbal formula and drank herbal
teas for around ten weeks, and undertook liver and bowel cleanses. By October 2000
she was delighted with the results. Her dietary advice and natural healing are
continuing, and she is free from parasites.

Case Study Four
In May 1996, a female of 33 years visited the centre as she was suffering from
depression and PMS, and was overweight and recently divorced with one child. Initially,
she received dietary advice - this produced some amazing results. She lost weight and
was much less depressed. Two months later, she was given bowel and liver cleanses -
more amazing results followed, and her PMS was addressed with herbs. She then went on
the enrol at university, and is doing very well. She is much happier, more positive in
outlook, and generally content with her life now. She still keeps in touch for herbs,
reassurance and a confidence boost occasionally.

Shorter Examples
- The day after her VRT treatment an elderly lady phoned Pat to say that the
treatment had freed up her stiff, painful, arthritic neck considerably.
- A sceptical man decided to try remedial massage for very severe headaches which
occurred once a week and for which the only relief was to go to bed. The headaches
stopped after two treatments and with regular massage, have not returned.
- Reflexology - Mrs J attended two years ago with dreadful lower disc pain.
Doctors had told her that the only thing left to do was to operate. She walked with
a stick. Having received treatment most weeks Mrs J rarely uses her stick and
although she still takes painkillers when necessary, she feels stronger in herself
and in her back and therefore more able to live a less painful life every day
without resorting to surgery.
- One client had a swollen, extremely painful wrist. She had tests for gout and
arthritis (negative), treatments including a cortisone injection but the symptoms
got worse. After three remedial massage treatments the pain was reduced by 90%
(treatment is continuing).
- Ear candling - Ms W attended with tinnitus and general feelings of clogginess
in her ears. After five sessions Ms W began to feel that her ears were feeling
clearer and she could hear things that she had not been able to previously hear.
The tinnitus was also changing and not so noisy. She continues to have treatments
every few weeks.
- Back pain caused a young rugby player to give up sport as he needed to take
painkillers to get through training sessions. Four sports massage treatments helped
him to return to pain-free rugby.
- A middle-aged man had suffered with asthma and bronchitis attacks for years.
Regular VRT and reflexology reduced the asthma symptoms and he has had no further
bronchitis attacks.
